The Ultimate Fall Getaway To North Fork, Long Island

Set in the heart of Greenport, The Menhaden opened over the summer and with 16 rooms in total, this chic little boutique offers a sweeping roof-deck perfect for early morning yoga or sunset drinks as well as a communal galley on each floor that’s filled with complimentary snacks. The hotel is also home to a new restaurant, The Merchant’s Wife which offers brunch and dinner fare consisting of locally sourced ingredients. The location can’t be beat, and the hotel even offers bikes as well as a Menhaden Moke, which is available to scoot around town in free of charge.

This Gorgeous New North Fork Hotel Is About to Change the Hamptons Scene

“I had the pleasure of staying at The Menhaden this past summer with two girlfriends, and suffice to say, it served as the perfect foundation for one of the best weekends of the season. From the second we pulled up to the stunning black-and-white property (a theme mirrored throughout the decor inside), we were met with top-notch service, from making sure that the room was perfectly comfortable to setting us up with a dinner reservation at the hotel's restaurant, The Merchant's Wife…Our room was pristine, with crisp white walls and bedding, loads of natural light, and a gorgeous bathroom featuring black penny tile and a large glass shower stall. Each room also features abstract, nautical photography by local artist Scott Farrell, bringing a bit of color to the space.”

A new addition to the appealing North Fork of Long Island, The Menhaden is a light-filled design hotel combining style and service...

“Pronounced men-hay-den and named after the forage fish found in nearby waters, the hotel might be considered petite, but it certainly doesn’t lack in the style or service stakes—high-end hospitality combined with modern amenities, contemporary design and North Fork’s only hotel roof deck making this an exceedingly attractive destination for design-savvy travellers. Guest rooms are painted stark white, the neutral colour palette chosen to evoke the light and airy feeling of home, and each are combined with natural accents of wood and greenery, luxury finishes, high thread count linens and large windows; many of which look out over the water. “

Napa + Cape Cod = The North Fork

The Menhaden is an upmarket, 16-room boutique hotel in Greenport’s picture-perfect town center. Extraordinarily comfortable beds, a well-regarded small plates restaurant called The Merchant’s Wife, popular coffee shop, and rooftop terrace make it a destination in itself. Snacks are available 24/7 in each floor’s Galley and a copy of Moby Dick is placed bedside in case guests are inspired by their seafaring surroundings. Hotel guests have access to bicycles and a car as well as a crackerjack concierge staff that’s only a text away. Interested in a private visit to an oyster farm, flower fields, or Shelter Island? How about a cooking class or harvest dinner? (For non-fishing folks, a menhaden is a type of herring that was once abundant in the area.)”

This Long Island Hotel is What Dreams Are Made of

“This 16-room boutique hotel has a black-and-white décor theme, with a minimalistic, hip feel. Pass by coordinated bikes (available to guests) outside before entering the lobby, where modern-yet-nautical touches abound. Once you enter your room (with keys! No plastic cards here!) you’ll be struck by how much light plays off the mostly white furnishings, keeping things airy and bright. Need a snack? Each floor features a galley kitchen, with local favorites like North Fork Potato Chips, local pastries, and a Smeg fridge stocked with drinks and yogurts. It was honestly one of the highlights of my stay.”

Enjoy an End-of-Summer Respite at The Menhaden in Greenport

“The historic coastal town of Greenport is perhaps the cutest of the North Fork villages, and there is nowhere better to stay than The Menhaden, a newly opened boutique property smack in the middle of town…From the moment you approach The Menhaden’s distinctive building, you sense the tranquil vibe within. The cohesive black-and-white color palette running throughout the hotel lends a delightfully modern twist on beach décor….We can’t think of a better place to enjoy a bottle of rosé at sundown than this relaxing space, with two firepits, a bar, and killer views of Greenport Harbor and Shelter Island….You’ll sleep soundly in any of the ethereal rooms at The Menhaden, decorated purposefully in neutral tones with natural accents of wood and greenery.”

Inside The Menhaden, North Fork’s Newest Destination Hotel

“As for the accommodations? My room was airy and flooded with natural light, with soothing grey and white tones enhancing the already chill vibes. Though the space was simply appointed, I had everything I needed to properly decompress… (To this day, my travel partner and I still gush about those magic mattresses.).…While the rooms are lovely, it’s the common areas that really shine…But arguably, the best perk to staying at The Menhaden is having access to the galley. Located on each floor, it’s stocked with a sink, coffee machine, all-day snacks (like North Fork potato chips), and a Smeg refrigerator filled with beverages galore, from San Pellegrino to grapefruit juice from Natale’s Juice. In the mornings, complimentary yogurt and baked goods are put out for breakfast, and if your sweet tooth kicks in later in the day, help yourself to a Häagen-Dazs ice cream bar from the freezer.”
